Crystal Cleansing, Clearing, and Charging

Here’s just a few quick tips on cleansing, clearing, and charging your crystals.

Clear Quartz LOVES sunlight. Their energy is rather close in vibration, I feel. The great thing about it is that Clear Quartz is already clear. It won't fade, and it happily eats up all of the solar energy. I feel they recharge like batteries. Sunlight would also be great for any other stones that will not fade (as some vivid in color tend to do). 

For stones that are not compatible or "friendly" with water, such as Selenite, Kyanite, Calcite, Halite, and other friable stone or stones that will dissolve, do NOT place them outside for the moonlight, as the moisture and dew that accumulates overnight will drench your stones. Leave those inside on a windowsill or somewhere else that the light from the moon is able to reach. I feel moonlight is the most safe and one of the most effective ways. It is essentially sunlight, but with a much more deep, subtle, gentle level of energy. I also feel the electromagnetic forces that pull on the Earth and are responsible for the tides also gently removes and frees crystals of any dense or negative energies or lower vibrations that your crystal may have.

Water is always wonderful for cleansing. Of course, caution is always to be take with certain stones, as some have a composition that causes a chemical reaction that is not good for the stone, as some stones contain, for example, arsenic, and will become toxic. The same applies to burying stones, because of the moisture in soil. The same also applies to sea salt and salt water. Salt is a crystal itself with a chemical composition that can react with the chemical composition of another stone.

The same rules for water apply to salt water for the obvious reasons, as well as the fact that the salt in the water can break down or remove the finish that a lot of crystals have. This mostly refers to tumbled or polished stones, as a thin coat of wax is added for a more sleek shine to the stone, but it also sometimes holds true for natural stones, as well. I find that sitting crystals on the ground, especially under or even leaning up against a tree is an amazing way to clear and charge a stone's energy. It releases all of the negative energy and soaks up all of those negative ions, that are GOOD for you, from the Earth and from the trees. Take caution here in if the ground is wet or if it will rain.

Halite is a great stone for clearing and charging other stones. Halite is often made into lamps or candle holders. Pink Halite from the Himalayas are especially common and a great choice, as they have all of the properties that Halite is so great for, in addition to energy that is more aligned with love and is beneficial for the Heart chakra and emotional healing+balance. I have both a lamp and a candle holder. The candle holder has two holes drilled into it, and I use it as a "charging station" for my crystal wands and other stones. I mostly use the crystal lamp if I'm looking to REALLY amp up their energy. I just place them directly onto or around the stone.

Another way to clear and charge your crystals is through intention and prayer. The Universe will work with you. Smudging, incense, tuning forks, crystal bowls, and other forms of healing work using sound and frequencies are all other great methods for clearing or charging your stones. I find that I am changing the way I cleanse and charge my stones all the time. I evolve in my methods and allow myself to be creative, let go, go with the flow, and let my intuition guide me.
